How to Find an Internship - Part 4: Everything You Might Need (Links + Tips)

Let’s start off with why I haven’t been continuing this blog series – as you have anticipated, busy and uninspired. So if you have been waiting for this final blog – my sincere apologies.

Without any further ado, here’s everything that you might need for that job hunting mission.

Job listing sites

There are like thousands of job listing sites for you to choose from, besides LinkedIn and Duunitori. Have a look and give them a try, because it the end it’s really about always making an effort.

2. Application samples & tips

3. Random general tips (or things I forgot to say in previous posts)

  • Leave an open application to companies that aren’t recruiting

  • Make a call

  • Use the country-specific standards you’re in (Finnish standards)

  • Drop by TE services office to have them take a look at your CV

  • Apply even when you don’t meet the requirements

  • Make sure your strengths stand out

  • Find the job listing sites fit for the type of jobs and fields you want to work in

  • Connect online with people in the industry, use the power of network

  • Talk to people (online and offline) to wrap your head around the current labour market in Finland: language requirement, how to get the foot in the door, common misconceptions about finding work in Finland etc.

  • People on the Internet are even more willing to give advice / tips.

  • See what I found on Reddit (below).

Don’t forget Youtube if you’re sick and tired of texts and websites. For example, watch the 10 tips on Increasing your chances to get a job in Finland.

Finally

As job seeking can be an exhausting and emotionally draining process, don’t be too hard on yourself. It is really easy to get stressed out and fall into the trap of self-doubt, so always reach out or talk to someone. Even if it might not help with the process, you’ll feel much better. You’re not alone in this! Remember, it’s okay if things take more time than your peers or your classmate. Efforts will not betray you. Good luck!

Stay strong and be kind,

Vy.
